Place 3: Arbaal the Unvanquished
Arbaal is somewhat of a counterpart to Khârn in the fantasy version of Warhammer. He is considered the champion of Khorne and carries his Destroyer blessing, a mark that immensely enhances his combat prowess and makes him nearly equal to any daemon.
Just like Khârn, Arbaal constantly seeks battles to collect more skulls for the blood god. At a time when he found too few battles, Arbaal was reportedly so bored that he supposedly challenged Khorne himself – and survived that encounter.
Even though the destructive power of Khârn and Arbaal is nearly identical, Arbaal has the advantage of quasi-invincibility. He has survived battles where even the champions of all gods were killed and has never (with one exception) been defeated in a duel – unlike Khârn.
Arbaal is playable in Total War: Warhammer 3 and was the free leader in the update that also brought the DLC Omens of Destruction:
Arbaal only met his death when he faced the incarnation of a wind of magic itself: Aqshy, the Burning Wind. His opponent, Caradryan, was not only the incarnation of magic but also the personification of the supreme elven god Asuryan.
And even here, Arbaal was almost victorious. Without the support of Aqshy, Caradryan would not have been able to defeat him and had only a single chance for the lethal blow with the help. Had he not succeeded, Arbaal reportedly could have single-handedly defeated the entire elven legion.
