Place 4: Ahzek Ahriman, the Exalted Sorcerer
Originally born on Terra, Ahzek Ahriman is the strongest psychic of the Thousand Sons and probably all Astartes who are not primarchs. He is surpassed only by Magnus himself, who has now ascended to daemonhood.
His power is difficult to measure, but his most powerful spell is responsible for the destruction of his legion not once but twice:
- The first rubric of Ahriman was supposed to strengthen all psykers of the Thousand Sons – and it did achieve that. Just under 100 psykers became even stronger, while the vast majority of the legion was pulverized in their armors. These “Rubric Marines” are trapped dust in their armors, not much more than automatons.
- In the second rubric, the primarch Magnus himself altered the spell. Ahriman himself wanted to sacrifice himself to save his previously annihilated brothers, but Magnus’s intervention ensured that the psychic power instead restored his torn mind. Only one rubric marine was revived, albeit as a vessel for a warp entity that now wants to erase all Thousand Sons.

Ahriman was banished by his legion and is currently searching through the webway of the Aeldari for ways to reverse his actions. Although Khârn is immune to psychic power and might defeat Ahriman in a duel, the psyker can prepare enough to protect himself, and the scope of his spells can threaten large parts of the galaxy.
