Who is he? Denji lives a life of utter misery. He is in a gigantic debt and can barely afford the necessities for himself and his friend Pochita. Pochita is a chainsaw devil that accompanies Denji throughout his life.
The two eat rotten food from trash cans and dream of better food, including jam toast. On a fateful day, they also get to experience the dream for real.
What coincidence happened with him? Due to an attack, Denji is destined to die. His devil companion Pochita sacrifices himself to become Denji’s heart. Consequently, the protagonist becomes the titular Chainsaw Man.
Afterward, Denji gets employed by public safety and protects people from death. However, he retains his lower instincts and doesn’t really want to save people, but wants to eat good food and touch breasts. This shows that he is not a willing, shining hero.
