Ken Kaneki

Who is he? Ken is also a normal student. The 18-year-old has just started his studies at Kamii University and is an extremely shy young man. He has just one real friend in Hide and prefers to spend his time in cafes reading novels.
Suddenly, he encounters a beautiful woman named Rize Kamishiro. They are connected by their love for the same book. Ken thinks he has hit the jackpot with Rize.
What coincidence happened with him? Rize turns out to be a ghoul and lures Ken into a trap to kill him. However, a steel beam falls on them and crushes Rize. Ken survives only because Rize’s organs are transplanted onto him.
This, however, makes Ken a half-ghoul and draws him into the conflict between the superhuman beings and humanity. Had it not been for that stupid steel beam, Ken would be dead – so neither is a very good fate.
