Out of nowhere, a PC MMORPG based on Dragon Ball appeared at the Chinese gaming fair ChinaJoy, where it was even playable.
What was there to see at the ChinaJoy fair? ChinaJoy is the largest Asian gaming fair, which took place last week in Shanghai. One of the countless games presented there was a new MMORPG for PC developed by Namco Bandai and Giant Network.
It is surprising that there has been almost no information about an MMORPG of such a major IP as Dragon Ball until now. The game has already gone through several closed beta tests and even has a playable demo version showcased at the ChinaJoy fair.
The title of the game is roughly translated as “Dragon Ball: Legend of Space and Time”. You can watch a long gameplay video here:
4 Races and Locations That Dragon Ball Fans Know
What do we know about the MMORPG? For now, there isn’t much information available about the MMORPG. So far, the only confirmed platform is the PC. The playable demo provided the following information:
- There are 4 playable races: Sayajin, Majin, Namekians, and Earthlings.
- The story seems to revolve around time travel, and Trunks is an important NPC character.
- Players can visit several well-known locations from the Dragon Ball universe, such as Master Roshi’s Island.
- There is a kind of upgrade system consisting of “implants,” and players can assemble a setup from available boosts. These enhance various stats like attack power or HP.
- The Majin have the highest defense values of all 4 races, making them a sort of “melee tank.”
- The Namekians specialize in ranged combat and also have healing skills.
Excitement about the game seems to be limited so far. The few reactions found online mention slow tab-target combat and that the gameplay “feels worse than many mobile games.”

Is there any information about beta tests or a release date? So far, at least two closed beta tests for the MMORPG have been held, but there is still no known release date.
Interestingly, the official website of the game has not been updated since May, despite having a booth with a playable demo at ChinaJoy.
