The ambitious MMORPG Chrono Odyssey is set to be released in 2025 for Steam, PlayStation 5, and Xbox, but selected few have reportedly been able to play the online role-playing game from Chrono Studio and Kakao Games for two weeks already.
What is known about the first test of Chrono Odyssey? Apparently, 65 selected genre veterans were able to try out the MMORPG from developer Chrono Studio and publisher Kakao Games for 14 days, which is set to be released next year for Steam, Xbox, and PS5.
Some of the testers documented their participation with photos showing them in front of their respective monitors, which always display the game menu of Chrono Odyssey or a gameplay scene (via mmorpg.org.pl).
The report highlights not only the dynamic combat positively but also the exciting time manipulation feature and the Buy2Play payment model (which aims to avoid many issues of Free2Play MMORPGs). Furthermore, it mentions the “probably best graphics on the market.”
The previous trailers for Chrono Odyssey have already showcased the beautiful graphics of the MMORPG:
What do I need to know about Chrono Odyssey? For some days now, we know that Kakao Games plans to release the new MMORPG next year for PC and consoles. The project was announced in late 2020. About 120 developers are working on the game. The core features of the action MMORPG are as follows:
- The world of Setera is expected to be not only large, seamless, varied, and open but also constantly changing – not just due to the seasons and weather events.
- The change will also be triggered by time travel, allowing you to switch between the past, present, and future. The transitions should happen seamlessly in the game world – similar to the travel between the two worlds in Lords of the Fallen from 2023.
- In Chrono Odyssey, you will choose between six combat classes: Paladin, Swordsman, Berserker, Assassin, Ranger, and Sorceress.
- Each class is said to have several weapon types available, which you can freely switch during combat.
- In combat, you will be able to manipulate space and time using the so-called Chronoprotector, regardless of your class choice.
- Thanks to the numerous customization options of the character creation system, player characters and NPCs are expected to look as individual and unique as possible.
- The developers promise dungeon and raid challenges. There will also be PvP content.
- There will be gathering and crafting activities. You can take on tasks like harvesting, logging, mining, and skinning. The resources can be processed into equipment and consumables.
A larger closed beta phase is reportedly set to start only at the end of 2024. We might learn more official details about this exciting MMORPG at the Summer Games Fest or Gamescom—then we will, of course, keep you updated. In the meantime, you can pass the time with seven new MMORPGs that are definitely set to be released this year.
