The loot shooter The First Descendant is extensively played by many players. Some even bought a new mouse because their character suddenly stopped shooting. Now the community has discovered that the problem is not with the hardware at all.
Do you know this? You play The First Descendant as a Bunny or another character with a skill that continuously drains MP, you are in the middle of a fight, but suddenly your character stops shooting, no matter how hard you press your mouse?
This phenomenon happens to various players repeatedly in The First Descendant, even though it seems hard to trigger intentionally. Most players’ first thought is a hardware failure of the mouse, but as it turns out, that’s not the case. Instead, it is a bug.

A Bug, Not a Hardware Problem
How did the players find this out? While players have occasionally complained about the problem on social media, no post had become well-known enough to find like-minded individuals. However, this was achieved on Facebook, and the post spread from there over Reddit.
In the comments, many players find the post to be like a salvation. Most believed that their mouse was broken. Some, like Reddit user uaua3 even bought a new mouse to fix the error: “This happened to me too. I thought my mouse was no longer registering clicks. I now have a new mouse, same problem. It’s the game.”
Where does the error come from? The exact reason for the error is not known. Players jointly noted that it occurs mainly with Bunny when the ability “Speed of Light” is active. But other characters are also affected.
The users speculated a bit and were at least able to narrow down the error. The problem seems to occur particularly frequently when characters use a skill that continuously drains MP. However, what exactly causes it is not entirely clear.
Can you fix the error yourself? Not really. You only have the option to not play a character with such abilities or to release and press the mouse button again. Then your weapon should fire again.
