What is his opinion on döner? The YouTube streamer IShowSpeed is currently on a trip through Turkey. He also tried a döner that he had previously eaten in Germany.
His judgment was poor towards the Turkish döner, as recorded in a clip on X. The streamer states: “I had döner in Germany that was better. I’m sorry. I have to be honest.”

What are the reactions? IShowSpeed shares his review in front of a large group of Turkish citizens, who are naturally not pleased. They boo him, even as the streamer continues to defend his statement by saying, “I am honest.” IShowSpeed adds that the döner is good, but the one in Germany is indeed better.

The döner can be referred to as a German-Turkish dish. The Turkish guest worker Kadir Nurman opened a snack bar in Berlin in 1972. Here he came up with the idea of putting grilled meat together with salad and sauce in a flatbread.
It was a quickly prepared dish that could be perfectly eaten by hand, making it just right for working people.
The idea of grilling meat on a vertical rotisserie, however, definitely comes from Turkey. Therefore, the döner is a Turkish invention that had its origins in Germany.
