Shroud, known as the “human Aimbot,” embarrassed himself in a round of Apex Legends during a duel. Hardly a shot hit. His chat discussed: Could it be that it wasn’t him, but the game?
This is what happened to Shroud: In a round with his friend and teammate Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham, Shroud found himself in a 1-vs-1 situation. Armed with an EVA-8, he faced a Lifeline with automatic rapid-fire weapons.
Shroud fired several shots at close range at his opponent. However, he caused hardly any damage: Only a few of the pellets from his shotgun hit at all.
He was quickly mowed down by his opponent. With a slightly desperate “Oh no!” he went down and was immediately completely eliminated, as his team couldn’t help him in time.
Fans wonder: Is it Shroud or Apex Legends?
This is what the chat thinks: As seen in the short clip, it seems like all the shots actually hit the opponent directly. At close range, the EVA-8 should also be able to eliminate an opponent quickly when it hits so precisely.
Additionally, the shots seem to hit the wall just behind the player. Some viewers found it unrealistic that at such close range, not a single shot from the shotgun’s spread could hit.
This is what Shroud says about it: Shroud himself clearly sees the fault with himself. He said he simply aimed poorly:
I can’t explain what was wrong with me. I think I’ve never missed so many shots in my entire life. That was the strangest situation I’ve ever been in. The shots were so close that I thought I was hitting them. But I wasn’t.
However, he often laughs during this and seems not to take the whole thing too seriously. He even went straight into the next round and got a win.
Where does the skepticism come from? Shroud is known for his extremely good aiming, which sometimes even surprises him. As a former Counter-Strike pro, he brings a lot of experience in shooters, and his reaction times and aiming ability are legendary.
For this reason alone, many of his fans probably did not want to believe that he wasn’t hitting at all. However, one viewer noted that when you watch the clips in slow motion, you can see Shroud slightly corrects right before the shot to predict movements. But it just didn’t work.
Recently, Shroud has also found great enjoyment in the new battle royale mode of Fallout 76. Perhaps that is taking a toll on his muscle memory for Apex Legends:
