Turner “Tfue” Tenney (22) is the second most followed streamer on Twitch after Ninja. The online shooter Fortnite made him a star and wealthy. But for several weeks now, he has had enough and is now playing Call of Duty: Warzone.
Turner “Tfue” Tenney currently has 8.5 million followers on Twitch. Since Ninja’s departure and after surpassing shroud in August 2019, Tfue is the streamer with the largest channel on Twitch.
He also ranked high in hours viewed: No streamer was watched more than Tfue in 2019.
This is how important Fortnite is to Tfue:
- Tfue gained most of his followers since 2018. That’s when his career started to really take off after previously playing games like H1Z1 or Destiny.
- In 2018, Tfue spent 1,782 hours playing Fortnite with an average of 25,547 viewers – here he established himself as one of the best players in Fortnite
- In 2019, it was even 1,987 hours with an average of 44,507 viewers. Tfue replaced Ninja as the most important Fortnite streamer on the platform and set a trend. He was significantly more aggressive than family-friendly Ninja, is 7 years younger, and made it to the World Cup as a major streamer – no one else achieved that
What has changed now: Tfue is no longer just a Fortnite player. He has begun to play more and more Call of Duty: Warzone. In the last 180 days, he has played 366 hours in Warzone compared to 676 hours in Fortnite.
In recent weeks, he has completely switched to Warzone. He only briefly checked Fortnite twice in the last 30 days for a few hours: Otherwise, he is completely in Warzone mode.
Since he started playing Call of Duty: Warzone, he doesn’t have as many viewers as in Fortnite, but he seems to feel more comfortable with the new title.
Tfue has not changed his style. It’s the proven mix of good gameplay, swearing, and little fits of rage:
Tfue can’t play Fortnite anymore, it drives him crazy
That’s why he switched: Tfue seems to have an issue with the current state of Fortnite. The game is “garbage” at the moment, he says. During the times he played Fortnite, the Twitch streamer especially complained about the big server issues and frequent lagging . Tfue is obsessed with his ping in Fortnite and has even considered moving 1500 kilometers. You can imagine how much lag drives him insane.
But “Fortnite is dumb” – Tfue has been saying that in various variations since he became known.
This time it’s not just about the current state of the game. Tfue is simply tired of Fortnite:
“What you need to understand: A lot of kids who are currently playing Fortnite haven’t played it when I played it. I played it when it first came out.
You can’t play a game for years on end. I usually can stand a game for two or three years max. You can’t play a game for 5 years straight. That drives you insane.”

Tfue falls from the Twitch Olympus in hours viewed
How does this affect him? The switch of a main game almost always negatively impacts viewer numbers. Tfue is no exception.
Tfue was by far the most-watched streamer in Fortnite in 2019. He had a massive lead over everyone else. In 2019, Tfue was also the most-watched streamer globally. With 92.7 million hours, he surpassed summit1g (64.5 million hours) and shroud (62.78 million hours).
In Call of Duty, Tfue is only in 4th place in the last 30 days, behind streamers who switched to the game early like NICKMERCS or TimTheTatman.
In the last 180 days, Tfue has dropped to 7th in terms of hours viewed. Streamers like summit1g, xQc, Anomaly or Nickmercs have surpassed him. (via sullygnome)
Who will win Twitch in 2020? After Tfue easily won the Twitch crown in 2019, the veteran summit1g is currently ahead. He has been particularly successful with Valorant, recently summit1g turned to MMORPGs like The Elder Scrolls Online.
However, xQc is still in the race – the current trend around Fall Guys seems to be playing in favor of the young Twitch audience favorite.
A few months ago, we received a rare insight into Tfue’s private life. There he talked about his youth and his beginnings as a content creator. Tfue comes from a family where things are a bit different than what is usually known. There is no trust in the school system:
Tfue is a millionaire thanks to Twitch and Fortnite, says: “I never really went to school”
