Genre: Survival Strategy | Developer: Bethesda Game Studios | Platform: PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, iOS, Android | Release Date: March 29, 2017 | Model: Free2Play | Steam Rating: 92% | Steam Hub: Fallout Shelter on Steam

This is Fallout Shelter: With Fallout Shelter, Bethesda released a mobile spin-off of the popular apocalypse RPG Fallout in summer 2015. In March 2017, the PC version was released, followed by the console versions. Unlike in the well-known RPGs, you do not play as a survivor wandering through the wasteland, but instead, you take control of one of the iconic bunkers, a Vault.
Your task is quite simple. In 2D view, you build various facilities underground, such as research stations, living quarters, fitness rooms, and kitchens. You take in new survivors, ensure enough resources, and train your residents.
Occasionally, the vault will be attacked, and you must defend it. For this, you need equipment, which is either brought by new residents or obtained from dispatched scouts. The wellbeing of the vault residents is your top priority; otherwise, no offspring will be produced.
With Fallout Shelter Online, Bethesda is planning a huge sequel.
This is what Fallout Shelter offers:
- Various rooms and upgrade levels for your vault
- Many items, armors, and weapons to find
- Survivors with special characteristics will regularly join you
- Explorations on the surface provide additional loot
- Attacks from bandits or monsters must be repelled
This is what players say: The Steam community mainly praises the ease of entry and the simple gameplay. The game is suitable for “lazy days” when you just want to relax. Players also enjoy the strategic aspect, which becomes especially important later in the game for surviving all situations.
However, the many waiting phases in which players have little to do or the manual collection of produced resources when you do not have robots to help, who join you randomly or can be purchased in the in-game shop, are negatively rated.
Who is Fallout Shelter for?
Fallout Shelter is suitable for any player who enjoys strategically building their own homes, in this case, bunkers, and wants power over the residents. Fallout fans can also take a look to learn how it feels to live as a vault overseer. The survival strategy title is perfect for on-the-go and for casual round sessions.
Fallout Shelter has a relaxing effect on players since the game processes are relatively slow and not stressful. So, if you want to unwind from everyday life, this is the right place.
If you do not like strategy games or want to progress quickly, you should skip Fallout Shelter.
