In Destiny 2, a Titan shows strong performance in PvP. With his throwing hammer, the melee ability, he eliminates numerous Guardians and achieves 1000 damage.
What happened? A few hours ago, the Guardian Frog Champ took to reddit. He claims to have achieved 1005 damage with a single throw of the throwing hammer.
The throwing hammer is the melee ability of the Sunbreaker Titan when he has the “Code of the Devastator” active. Thus, the throwing hammer does not refer to either the hammer of Sol or the brand hammer – both hammers are super attacks – but rather the melee ability.
The Titan presented the following video and has received a proud 3,400 upvotes so far. But beware: mute the sound or brace yourself for some foul language that noble Guardians would never say:
What happens in the video?
Here’s what you can see in the video: The Guardian is currently playing PvP in Destiny 2. He has equipped the Solar Titan with the throwing hammer as well as the Exotic “Wormgod Caress”.
He first shoots at an enemy, weakening him and then kills him with the throwing hammer. Now two buffs become active:
- Burning Fists of the Wormgod Caress cause melee kills to increase melee damage. A kill with the throwing hammer counts as melee damage.
- Roaring Flames, a perk of the Titan focus tree, causes kills with Solar abilities to increase the damage of Solar abilities. The throwing hammer is a Solar ability.
Both effects are stackable.
The special feature of the throwing hammer is that you can immediately use it again after picking it up following a throw. And that is exactly what the Titan does in the video.
He throws, kills, increases the buffs, picks up the hammer again, throws, and kills again. He repeats this several times, with his hammer getting stronger each time. In the end, he deals an enormous 1005 damage with just one throw.
By the way, he remains on his feet thanks to the Titan perk “Unyielding Warrior”. After hitting an enemy with the throwing hammer, health regeneration is triggered when he picks up the hammer.
What do other Guardians say about it? In the comments on YouTube and reddit, people are mostly enthusiastic about this run. It is described as “wild”, “bad ass”, and “very nice”. Even Lord Shaxx is quoted, as is common in such strong kills in the Crucible: “I can’t believe what I’m seeing!”
Moreover, there’s a bit of sympathy for the opponents: “These Guardians had families, bro.” And some are surprised at how strong the Wormgod Caress can be. “Why am I not using this crazy exotic?”
The top comment comes from a Hunter who is a bit envious of this powerful hammer: “I almost broke an enemy’s shield with my throwing knife.”
