Why shouldn’t you play the new game right now? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be released on September 9, 2024, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, letting you play as a Space Marine in a shooter for the first time in over ten years.
Yet, even now, Space Marine 2 is being played by some players, months ahead of the game’s release. A nearly complete version of the upcoming Warhammer shooter has been leaked.
The developers of Space Marine 2 have now commented on the leak and made a clear request to the community: Do not play the new game yet, wait until launch.

What do the developers say? The team behind Space Marine 2, consisting of developer Saber Interactive and publisher Focus Entertainment, has spoken on X.com (formerly Twitter) about the major leak of the upcoming shooter.
They say that the leaked version of the game is almost a year old at the time of the shooter’s release, and they are saddened that some of the biggest fans will experience the game for the first time with this outdated version.
That’s why they also ask everyone to avoid playing the leaked version: “We ask everyone to avoid this unfinished build and not to spoil the game for those who are looking forward to experiencing it for the first time at release.”
What kind of game is this anyway? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will be a third-person shooter and the sequel to the first part, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, released in 2011. As the name clearly indicates, the title takes place in the dark sci-fi universe of Warhammer.
You control one of the legendary Space Marines and fight against hordes of the alien Tyranids in various modes, utilizing superhuman abilities. The shooter will feature a cooperative campaign, a 6v6 multiplayer mode, and the PvE mode “Operations”.
