Anyone who feels there isn’t enough to do in the world of the survival game No Man’s Sky on Steam and PS5 will receive a number of new activities with the “Aquarius” update.
What game is this about? No Man’s Sky is an open-world survival game set in a science fiction universe. The game was developed by Hello Games and was released on August 12, 2016, on Steam as well as for PS4/PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and macOS.
You can travel freely between procedurally generated planets with your spaceship. There, you can go on adventures, build bases, craft equipment, trade with other players, or become a space pirate.
On September 4, 2024, the developers released a trailer for the latest update. It is called “Aquarius” and was released on the same day.

Where did the idea for the update come from? The inspiration for the update actually came from the players themselves. According to the developers, they were so excited about the improved water in the “Worlds Part 1” update that more and more clips emerged showing players simply standing at the water’s edge and doing nothing.
A piece of fan art particularly stuck with them: Reddit user catador_de_potos shared a piece of fan art depicting an explorer wearing a straw hat. He is sitting on his spaceship, which is hovering just above the water, and is fishing.
New Features for Fishermen and Underwater Exploration
What does the update bring? You can now cast your fishing line in any body of water and catch a variety of aquatic creatures. Everything from small fish to large, alien marine mammals should be included. The appearance of the animals also depends on the specific planet. You can also use the marine life in new cooking recipes.
A mobile fishing platform is intended to make fishing easier, allowing you to move freely just above the water’s surface. The new diving suit and underwater jetpack ensure that you are more mobile than ever underwater.
Depending on how you want to play, fishing can feel more or less like work. If you want to catch all the marine species available, you will probably have to travel a lot from planet to planet. However, if you just want a relaxing fishing trip on an alien planet, this update will also cater to you.
