Why is this horror shooter a winner? Hunt: Showdown definitely counts as a winner on Steam in 2023. At least when you look at the player numbers compared to the previous year. They have significantly increased (via steamcharts.com):
- In 2022, the average player count fluctuated between 10,000 and 12,000 players.
- In comparison, the average player count in 2023 is mostly at least 16,000 players.
- Twice, Hunt: Showdown even managed to exceed 20,000.
That a game significantly picks up after years is relatively unusual, and even more remarkable is how well Hunt: Showdown has developed overall.
It is also nice to see that a German studio in Frankfurt achieves such a performance with its game. Recently, Crytek also announced that they are working on a new engine for Hunt: Showdown.
New content and battle pass for horror shooter presented

The trailer impresses with its graphics, pacing, and overall atmosphere and has received high praise in the comments once again (via YouTube). For a while now, players have been excited about the work of the team behind the trailers and some describe it as “divine”.
This trailer introduces you to some new weapons that you can unlock from now on:
- Ancestor’s Wrath – Legendary Katana
- Fossil Tooth – Legendary Double Barreled Pistol
- Pupil Brine – Legendary Dagger 96 Deadeye
- Last Line – Legendary Caldwell Pax Trueshot
- Veil Slasher – Legendary Dagger 96 Claw
- Razor Spate – Legendary Double-Bladed Axe
- Sullied & Sworn – Legendary LeMat Mark II Carbine Marksman
In addition to these seven new weapons, the trailer also introduces the two weapon attachments Abyssal Anchor and Bitter Honey.
Additionally, you will receive two new items. The legendary regeneration syringe “Thorax Brew” and the legendary liquid fire bomb “Fiery Froth”.
Finally, a new legendary hunter is also being introduced: “Thirteenth Mate.” This hunter definitely aligns with the introduced hunter from the last DLC, which was very well received:
