At the Nintendo Direct, the sequel to the Steam hit Hades not only received a stylish trailer but also a release date.
Which game is it? Hades 2 is the sequel to the successful roguelite by Supergiant. The original Hades was a huge success and is one of the few games that has basically reached the “God Tier” on Steam: an extremely positive rating with over 100,000 reviews.
Hades 2 has been in Early Access on Steam since 2024, and for several weeks now, there have been hints that the release is imminent. During the Nintendo Direct on September 12, 2025, a surprise announcement was made for a release on September 25 – and alongside Steam, the roguelite will also launch directly on the Nintendo Switch 2.
September is a great month for indie fans
How did this happen? On YouTube, the launch trailer has already been viewed more than 3,700 times in just over half an hour (as of September 12, 2025, 4:10 p.m.) and received almost as many likes. So the mood is good, as a glance at the comments confirms:
- Newxav: “Silksong and now Hades 2? This month is crazy.”
- marcomesturino1775: “And Early Access already had more than a few finished games.”
- wastelandroar: “This trailer is going to be my personality for the foreseeable future.”
- renzrowendeleon8754: “Man, I’d love to see a whole series in this style.”
- One fan even announced that they don’t want to leave the house until January. Others are already calling Hades 2 the game of the year.

It remains to be seen whether the sequel can actually build on the success of Hades. For our community manager Mary, however, Hades 2 was already one of the best games of 2024. You can find out more about it right here on MeinMMO: One of my favorite games from 2024 is getting even better this year.
