The Dark Fantasy MMORPG The Secret World is now open for everyone for free for 10 days.

The MMORPG is generally regarded as a hidden gem due to its atmosphere and great stories. The launch in 2012 was poorly timed between Diablo 3 and Guild Wars 2, and some clunky design decisions also hindered The Secret World’s success with the mass of players – and the development company also ran into difficulties.
Due to such external circumstances, The Secret World is considered by many as the MMORPG that deserved more players. We referred to it in an article as “the best RPG you never played.”
In the meantime, the reputation of the quests and stories from TSW has been cemented as “excellent”, and Funcom has also revised and streamlined the entry experience. So it’s definitely recommended to take a look.
Update 14 is already out, 15 will follow soon
Game content in The Secret World comes through the “Issues”; the releases. Issue 14 “The Call of the Nameless” was released in April, focusing on Egypt.
To celebrate the trial, TSW also received a new trailer.
Issue 15 has already been announced. Unusually early for The Secret World standards. There is a reason: Issue 15 will be “recycled content”. It combines the 3 side missions Further Analysis, Love & Loathing, and The Last Pagan in this update. Anyone who has already purchased one of the 3 will receive Update 15 for free. A new investigative mission will also be added.
The idea of releasing game content through “side missions” does not seem to have worked. The content was played too little because players thought: Well, it’s just side missions. Therefore, Funcom wants to release them differently now to make them appealing to other players as a “normal release”.
For the distant future, Funcom has announced that PvP will be fundamentally overhauled. In addition to significant changes in Fusang, they are also considering introducing a new mode that combines PvE and PvP elements.
