Rare mounts will soon be thrown in World of Warcraft. A new buff makes them much more common.
Some mounts in World of Warcraft are rare. So rare that there are often posts in the game’s subreddit, stating that players have finally obtained this mount after 10 or even 15 years. This is because the drop chance is often 1%, and each character only has one attempt per week.
Now your time has come. Blizzard is temporarily increasing the drop chance of these mounts and other items by 900% – that is, ten times the previous value.
Which items are affected? Basically all items from “Legacy” content, meaning dungeons and raids that were in the game before Dragonflight. The drop rate for special mounts is 1% in most raids, while during the event it will rise to a whopping 10%.
Transmog will also be affected by this. Blizzard has not provided specific details yet, but the chance for transmog is said to be “doubled” – presumably, legacy bosses will simply drop double the amount of loot.
Excluded from this will be pets and also toys, as well as all timewalking content. However, there seem to be some exceptions, as the Jaraxxus Hearthstone card benefits from this bonus, even though it is a toy.
How long is the event active? Basically almost all of July, from July 1, 2025, to July 29, 2025. During this time, you can benefit from the increased drop chances and might want to cancel some raid nights to play old content instead – because some of the special mounts have never been easier to obtain.
