How can you use the spell? Disguise Self is an extremely versatile spell. It not only has advantages in social situations but can also be useful in combat. Here are some of the possibilities offered by the spell:
- You have access to the dialogue options of the corresponding races as long as you are transformed into them.
- Weapons sometimes have a bonus for certain races (like Drow or Githyanki), which are also active when you use Disguise Self.
- Small holes and crevices can be traversed if you transform into a member of a small race.
- Most goblins are friendly or neutral towards you when you appear as a Drow.
- You can use the spell “Speak with Dead” even if you have killed the victim yourself.
- Many NPCs do not penalize you with a reputation loss if you steal from them in disguise (only the specific disguise suffers the loss).
- If you have been banned from places, you can simply walk back in while disguised (like at the newspaper office in Baldur’s Gate).
- You can free Minthara from the Towers of Moonrise if you simply disguise her as someone else.
As you can see, Disguise Self has a wealth of functions and unlocks new options in the game. Whether dialogues or the ability to save the lives of entire characters (like Minthara).
