The players have discovered why the voice lines of the operators in Battlefield 2042 are so bad. It is related to the birth year of the soldiers.
What is up with the operators?
- The Reddit user “prolofoid” looked at the biographies of the operators from Battlefield 2042 around 4 years after the release.
- He noticed that many of them belong to Generation Alpha and likely know memes like Skibidi Toilet (via Reddit).
- Generation Alpha includes people born between 2010 and 2025. As prolofoid shows in a screenshot, Sundance was born in 2011, Lis in 2014, and Zain in 2018.
Why do the voice lines make sense now? When Battlefield 2042 was released, there was a lot of criticism directed at the voice lines of the operators. They were considered nonsensical, embarrassing, and detrimental to immersion. After all, these are elite soldiers in serious war scenarios.
Some commenters believe that the nonsensical remarks fit the generation and actually make perfect sense. One commenter refers to them as “brainrot voice lines,” which stem from the fact that the operators have watched too much Skibidi Toilet. The community just hasn’t understood yet that DICE did their research properly.
One commenter also notes that the operators probably all grew up with Fortnite.
What was the problem with the voice lines? Many Battlefield players prefer a realistic, immersive portrayal of war.
It doesn’t have to be on the level of a simulation, but unrealistic movement, dozens of the same person on the battlefield, and lines that would be inappropriate in a real war also disrupt the experience in Battlefield.
