In the current episodes of the anime about One Piece, the Straw Hat crew is currently on Egghead Island. The series will soon take a multi-month break. In the meantime, the creators have ensured new anime content.
How long will One Piece be on break? The 1122nd episode, which has just been released, will initially be the last one. The Egghead Island arc is not scheduled to continue until April 2025. Thus, the animation studio still has time to animate the new episodes and continue the stories from Eiichiro Oda’s manga.
However, starting from October 27, 2024, which is just a few weeks away, the anime will continue in a different form. This will bridge the gap during which the anime will be on break. Instead of new episodes, fans can expect the One Piece Special Edit Version, a 13-year-old arc presented in a new guise.

Old arc from One Piece gets a remake
Which arc will be shown? From October 27, 2024, fans will be able to experience the Fishman Island arc anew. The arc is set to be shown until April 2025 and condenses the Fishman Island from 58 episodes to just 21 episodes. The storyline will thus be told significantly faster than it was 13 years ago.
The remake also features new visual graphics. In comparison images from X user newworldartur, it can be seen that the new images place much more emphasis on lighting and shading effects and have more details. Filters are used, which were also seen in the Wano Kuni arc:
Is the remake worth it for me? Besides the graphics and pacing, there are other innovations:
- The dubbing has been redone. The music and sound effects have also been newly produced.
- The opening that aired with the Fishman Island arc is also the same in the remake: “We Go”. However, this time the song is sung by the voice actors of the Straw Hat crew.
- The ending named “Sailing” is contributed by Be: First, a Japanese boy group.
- The remake runs separately from the reboot by WIT Studio, which will retell the entire anime.
It might be worth your while to experience the arc from the beginning again if you’ve been a big fan of the Fishmen. However, don’t expect major changes in the content, as the story is not supposed to be altered.
What else is there for fans? In addition to the reboot and the remake of Fishman Island, fans can expect another gift. For the 25th anniversary, a short film will be produced. It is supposed to show different people who are influenced in some way by the Straw Hat pirates.
