The production team of the anime of One Piece aired episode 1118 over the weekend. Many fans have been looking forward to this episode, as they hoped to learn more about a certain character.

Which character is it about? The identity of Imu is perhaps one of the biggest mysteries of One Piece. He is the supreme ruler of the World Government, who stands above the Five Elders.
The public knows nothing of Imu’s existence. The identity behind the person is kept strictly secret. Even the readers of the manga do not know who is behind Imu. Fans were therefore even more excited when the corresponding episode was shown in the anime. However, the team behind One Piece has ensured that as little as possible is revealed about the secret character.

Imu remains a big mystery in the One Piece anime
How did Imu appear in the anime? Imu’s appearance was handled in the anime just like in the manga. He is a large, black silhouette with a crown on his head. Only the eyes stand out, which have round, red pupils.
However, unlike the manga, Imu had to be given a voice actor in the anime. Fans hoped that they would at least learn Imu’s gender through the voice. But through the X account newworldartur, you can hear that the production team has taken precautions even there:
Imu’s voice has been distorted in such a way that it is no longer clear which gender Imu has. Furthermore, the voice actor behind Imu has not been revealed. As a voice actor, ??? is listed and a placeholder is used for the image (via X).
The resolution will likely only come in the final chapters of the manga. The mystery behind Imu is one of the last great puzzles of One Piece. Therefore, it will probably take several months or even years before we find out who Imu’s voice actor is.
Who could be behind Imu? In the comments, some fans speculate that the voice sounds more female than male. Therefore, the theory has established itself that Imu could be Lily Nefeltari.
She was a founding member of the World Government but chose not to move to Mary Geoise as the only one of the 20 rulers. She is the ancestor of King Cobra and Vivi and returned to her kingdom Alabasta.
