Nintendo finally revealed what display the Nintendo Switch 2 will offer during the Nintendo Direct. Compared to the older Switch OLED, the Switch 2 once again relies on an LCD unit.
This is what the new display of the Switch 2 features: Nintendo has introduced further details about the Nintendo Switch 2, including features of the display used. The new display of the Switch 2 has the following features:
- LCD screen instead of OLED.
- 7.9 inches. For comparison: The regular Switch has a 6.2-inch display, while the OLED model has a 7-inch display.
- Full HD in handheld mode, while the regular Switch previously had a resolution of 720p in handheld mode.
- Performance of up to 120 FPS, if the games officially support it. Whether Elden Ring supports 120 FPS on the Switch 2 is still uncertain.
For a while, rumors had speculated that Nintendo would use an LC display for the new Switch 2. The Switch OLED still relied on the OLED display that shares its name. Especially for players who mainly play in handheld mode, upgrading to the OLED version on the Switch 1 is definitely worthwhile. An OLED variant for the Switch 2 may follow later.
