In ARK Survival Evolved (PS4, Xbox One, PC) the next expansion, the large DLC “Aberration,” will be released in October. It will be included in the Season Pass. A release is planned for October.
Next DLC for ARK has release date in October for PC, PS4, and Xbox One
For days, the Twitter account of ARK lead developer Jeremy Stieglitz has been buzzing. He was excited about something and couldn’t wait to announce it. In the meantime, it was thought that it could be the new live-action series, but it turned out to be a fresh expansion.
ARK has introduced a $45 Season Pass at launch. The first expansion is the already released Scorched Earth – there was some trouble back then because a paid DLC was released while ARK was still in Early Access.
Now the second of three expansions included in ARK’s Season Pass has been announced: Aberration.
Here is the trailer for Aberration, the new expansion of ARK
“Aberration” clearly goes in the direction of horror, as one can see. “The ARK,” the planet, is not very friendly to organic life – as in the normal version of the game. The sun is radioactive. To survive here, players will have to take refuge below ground in caves.
The theme of the expansion will be to survive in a hostile and alien environment.

Alien creatures burst from the chests of your enemies
There are rumors that there will be mutated creatures underground:
- A “rock dragon” is said to have the ability to camouflage itself like a chameleon, climb walls, and soar through the skies.
- A bioluminescent creature helps to keep the darkness at bay.
- And a “nameless queen” is capable of impregnating enemies, from whose chest then … a beast bursts out. This is body horror at its finest, as one knows from the Alien series.
Instead of a prehistoric collection of dinos, there’s more of an alien killer world with significant horror influences. The DLC Aberration is said to cost $20 if one does not buy the Season Pass.

There is now a lot of information about ARK – the game has just been released. However, the launch did not go perfectly, which is also a form of horror:
