Actually, a new event was supposed to start in the multiplayer shooter Hunt: Showdown 1896, but it was taken offline shortly after. The reason: The update came with a flood of problems.
Which update is meant here? Update 2.4, which was supposed to coincide with the release of the event “Judgement of The Fool”. This was released on June 18, but players immediately reported serious issues.
- Leky_xx asked under the announcement for the update on Steam: “Is anyone else having issue while purchasing blood bounds?“
- Schoolboy had the same problem and more: “Can’t enter the game. Searching with my team for a game and then even loading dissapears after like 10 minutes. Can’t buy blood bonds, as always tons of technical issues.”
For many players, the match search did not work, and buying Blood Bonds, which unlock the battle pass, was also not possible. Developer Crytek reacted the same day with a post on X (formerly Twitter) and took the servers offline to work on a solution.
Hunters,
We are aware of ongoing backend issues in some regions, including connection problems, matchmaking errors, and the inability to purchase Blood Bonds.
To address this, we are bringing all servers offline immediately. Our team is working to resolve the situation and will update you as soon as the servers are back online.

Servers are back, but only on PC – and without update
What is the current status? More than 8 hours later, the game’s servers returned – but only on Steam and without the 2.4 update.
- “After exhausting all possible solutions, we have decided to revert the game back to Update 2.3 to restore stability”, the developers explained in a separate X post.
On consoles, Hunt: Showdown is still unplayable (as of June 19, 11:16 AM). Players on these platforms could, however, expect an update “soon,” according to Crytek.
The studio also announces compensation: Those who had problems with in-game purchases during the update will be compensated. Additionally, each player will receive 10,000 Hunt Dollars as “a token of our [Crytek’s] appreciation for your patience.”
- The code for the 10,000 Hunt Dollars is XIE25T57R247N190 and can be redeemed until Friday, June 27.
On Steam, the update debacle is once again reflected in the rating. Especially on June 19, there was a flood of negative reviews: against 315 negative, there are only 27 positive. This means that the game slips back to “mixed” in recent reviews.
After the great success of Escape From Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown, numerous developers have ventured into their own games of this kind. Some had more, some less success – mostly less. ARC Raiders, on the other hand, looks like an extraction shooter that could once again be a success – and is coming in 2025.
