Since its release, WoW Classic has been outpacing its competitors on Twitch. One player is particularly benefiting from this, even though hardly anyone had heard of him before.
This is the new Twitch star: It is about the player Jokerd, who was the first player to reach level 60 in WoW Classic. He showcased his journey to max level on Twitch, and his viewers steadily grew in number.
The special thing about him is that he is actually nothing special. He streams with mediocre equipment from a basement somewhere in Malta. He even showed his place, which resembles a prison, in a short clip.
Jokerd has this many fans: Despite his humble abode, Jokerd according to Sullygnome ranks 1st for the fastest growing channels (+126,661 viewers in the last week) and also 1st for streams with the most peak viewers (319,862 viewers at the same time, as of August 4 at 1:30 PM).
Before his big success, his viewers ranged between 200 and 300, with only ten people watching at the beginning until the numbers increased with WoW Classic.
His maximum viewers even surpass the English channel that streams the current CS:GO Majors tournament by almost 100,000 viewers (233,344 peak viewers). He also leaves the usually most famous WoW streamer Asmongold far behind.
Asmongold, who has been increasingly criticized lately, ranks 5th among the “fastest growing channels”. For the most viewers at the same time, he is in 8th place.
Strong numbers as well – but not as strong as those of Jokerd.
WoW Classic: A Blessing for New Twitch Streamers?
WoW Classic is performing well on Twitch: Shortly after its release on August 27, WoW Classic managed to fight its way to the top of Twitch. It has now dominated the game list for some time.
Even big streamers like Shroud, who is known as a shooter star, have now dedicated themselves to WoW Classic. This may have contributed to him no longer being number 1 on Twitch for followers, but apparently, he is having a lot of fun with the 15-year-old game.
Although these big names seemingly dominate the selection of channels, Jokerd shows that even smaller streamers can achieve success on Twitch through special performances in WoW Classic. A similar case was that of the streamer Dizzy, who was able to benefit from the hype around Apex Legends in February.
