Diablo 4 has a new trailer for Vessel of Hatred. The trailer has all sorts of details to discover, and the fight against the final boss might have already been hinted at. However, fans are only interested in the music.
What kind of trailer is this? On October 8th, Diablo 4 will launch a new expansion called Vessel of Hatred. To coincide with this, the developers have released a new trailer meant to get players excited for the expansion.
The trailer features gameplay and story sequences as well as some boss fights. One of them might even be the fight against the final boss.
Here you can see the new trailer for Vessel of Hatred:
Final boss or not?
Which boss fight is it? The boss fight that likely represents the fight against the final boss of the expansion is the last gameplay scene in the trailer. In this scene, the character confronts a demonic tentacle wolf.
This tentacle wolf could be Mephisto, the greatest enemy of the new expansion. Mephisto, the “Lord of Hatred,” is carried in a soulstone by Neyrelle during this expansion.
She is trying to free the world from the Prime Evil for good. However, her spirit is increasingly trapped by malevolence and corrupted in the soulstone.
It is foreseeable that the plan will not succeed and that there will eventually be a fight against Mephisto. While it is not clear whether the shown boss fight is really a form of the villain, it is conceivable. It does not have to be his final form; it’s possible that the Lord of Hatred can take on many forms.
How are players reacting to the trailer? Players are only interested in one thing about the trailer, and that is the music. The new trailer for the expansion is accompanied by the song “Blood // Water” by Grandson. The rap-rock song gives the trailer a high-action atmosphere, which especially due to the scenes cut to the beat strongly reminds of Call of Duty.
Players are noticing this, and they do not like it at all. In the comments on YouTube, they express:
- @neonsamurai writes, for example: “Why the music? Why? WHYYYY?!”
- Also @starpark7631 really dislikes the music: “A terrible choice of music… ruined the atmosphere of the entire video”
- @maruofficial4744 wishes for a new version of the trailer: “Please re-upload with a different soundtrack”
- @AntExe-ey5my describes the soundtrack with a taste analogy: “Diablo and the music in this trailer go together like orange juice and toothpaste.”
Even though the music likely didn’t convince players about the new season, there is no doubt that Diablo 4 aims to attract many players again with the new expansion. This also aligns well with the developers’ plan: The head of Diablo 4 explains that Blizzard is doing everything it can to keep players “entertained” for a long time.
