Game Two presents in a new YouTube video the concept, its formats, and the funding for the future.
What happened with Game Two? In June 2024, it was announced that Game Two would only run for one more year on the ZDFneo television channel and would be discontinued in the summer of 2025. The reason: Gaming is too niche. For a long time, it was not really clear how the show would continue.
In July 2025, the new team from Game Two spoke up and expressed hope. The format intended to finance itself through memberships of the Rocket Beans Supporters Club and consisted of Esther, Kuro, John, Markus, and Jasper. It was set to start in September 2025.
Now the team has responded with a Q&A video on YouTube and answered the community’s questions about the future. They also presented their new plans.
New and old formats from Game Two
What is the financial situation of Game Two? Through cooperation with Media Markt / Xperion and the Rocket Beans Supporters Club, a financial foundation for about a year has been established, but Game Two is not completely “saved” yet. This support is enough for the work of the current core members, but it is not sufficient for additional jobs.
The support of the community through the Rocket Beans Supporters Club remains important. The financial situation also means that there will be advertising. However, this is to be packaged creatively and humorously.
What content will there be? The old style of Game Two, with costumes and props, is set to return. In the future, there will be two videos per week. These could include reviews, columns, and formats like “Under the Radar” or “Unplayable”.
Furthermore, a new format will be introduced: “Checkpoint”. This is a short, flexible “container format” for current topics and gaming news. Additionally, live events will be possible through cooperation with Xperion.
The big Game Two show will not return in its old form, as that would be too labor-intensive for the 5 people who currently make up the team. The 5 members will henceforth be responsible for everything, such as writing, filming, and editing. However, it is also possible that “old faces” from Game Two will be seen in the new formats.
Game Two is moving closer to Rocket Beans: A spatial change is also taking place: Game Two will downsize its office space and move closer to the Rocket Beans, so that closer collaboration becomes possible. Once the move is complete, everything will be ready, and from then on, it will begin.
That Game Two had to drastically shrink its team did not sit well with the tight-knit community. Fans particularly criticized the public broadcasters.
