The new skateboard MMO Skate. is getting back on its feet after a rough start. The ratings on Steam and player numbers are rising now.
What did the patch bring? Like during the first attempt to ride a skateboard, Skate. ended up on its backside right at the start and had to settle for 46% positive ratings on Steam.
Nevertheless, many players showed interest in the new skateboard MMO and tried the free game on Steam. However, some of them did not get far. A nasty bug prevented players from completing the first mission and getting into the game properly.
The first patch for Skate. directly brought the important bug fix for the issue and ensured that now everyone can actually skate. The problem that many could not progress right at the start of the game has been resolved (via Steam), comforting the community.
They thanked the developers with positive reviews on Steam, which raised the positive ratings from 45% to 55%.

Surge of players despite bad ratings
How is Skate.? The skateboard game was quickly punished by its fans right at release; they criticized the bugs as well as the game world being too focused on skateboarding and the art style being too childish and lacking in rebellion.
In the meantime, the free skateboard game is not only impressing many players on Steam. At its peak on September 18, over 94,000 gamers were playing simultaneously (via SteamDB), the developers announced on X.com that they had welcomed over 2 million players across all platforms on the first day.
What’s next? Skate. is still in Early Access on Steam and is being developed by the developers as a live service game. The next event is Season 1 in October (via Reddit). Players can expect two seasonal events:
- The Halloween event “Skate-O-Ween”
- The Thanksgiving event “7-Ply Maple Harvest”
Additionally, a new skate pass is supposed to be introduced, along with further bug fixes and improvements to quality and interface on PC.
Skate. was long awaited by fans, but after a rocky start, it still exceeded the expectations of many with its high player count.
