The developers of Dune: Awakening have put Patch 1.1.20 on the public test server. Although there are no new contents for the endgame or other areas of the survival MMO, parts of the community are celebrating the planned changes.
What is known about Patch 1.1.20? The developers of Dune: Awakening plan to release the update on August 12, 2025. The changes are to be tested on the test server for almost 2 weeks. Highlights include:
- Colliding ornithopters now receive a boost to separate them. This will reduce the “griefing” of carrier ornithopters by swarms of multiple ornithopters.
- The buttons “Deposit All Blood” and “Deposit/Withdraw All Water” have been added to blood cleansers and water cisterns.
- It is now possible to place pillars between walls.
- A new sandbike variant and a new set of desert mechanic decorations are available at the vehicle dealer.
- Colliding with the sandworm’s body during one of its animations now results in death or destruction of the vehicle. Sandworms in the deep desert now have a 50% chance to use the shorter breakthrough version of their animation.
- You can now search for item names, and the categories have been rearranged to make item browsing more convenient and intuitive.
- The Solido replicator now encodes placeable objects and decorations so you can copy your fully functional and stylish bases with all the bells and whistles.
- Sand and spice fields in the Hagga basin have been redistributed so that the worm can reach them.
- The range in which corpses can be looted and bled has been increased to make the experience smoother.
- To make some items more appealing for purchase from merchants, prices have been adjusted. Spice drinks, rockets, napalm, and anti-radiation pills are now significantly cheaper, for example.

How is the community reacting to the patch notes? Shortly after the release of the patch notes, a discussion started in the subreddit of Dune: Awakening, which has already received over 170 comments within a few hours.
- DarkLanternZBT praises on Reddit the sheer amount of changes: “This seems like an incredible amount of work. Even just skimming through, you can see big and small adjustments in almost every area of the game: new animations, quality improvements, bug fixes, reactions to griefing… it feels like a major update.”
- Tlman22 also expresses his excitement on Reddit: “Huge thanks to Funcom for listening to a lot of the feedback […]. I’m really looking forward to testing it and experiencing it live starting in August.”

However, some of the innovations are also being discussed. Some players do not understand that making rockets more expensive while they can be bought much cheaper from merchants is sensible. Some also complain about the adjustments to sandworm behavior, threat buildup, and the fields – all of this making it even more dangerous to farm sand and spice, which not everyone appreciates.
Some players are also throwing in other improvements they consider necessary that will probably not make it into the patch.
