Four new cards showcase the power of “Magnetic” in Hearthstone – they overshadow all other “buff cards”!
After Blizzard introduced the upcoming expansion for Hearthstone a few days ago, things have gone quiet around Dr. Boom’s Secret Lab (“The Boomsday Project”). Now, the developers have released a new video discussing four fresh mechs that will cause chaos in Hearthstone starting August 7.
The Expandable Base Bot is a mech minion for 2 mana with stats of 1/5. By itself, it can do little, but for its low cost, it is quite stable, making it the perfect foundation to be upgraded later with other cards.
The Robotic Powerhouse, on the other hand, is a 5/5 mech for 5 mana with the magnetic keyword. It can thus be played either as a standalone 5/5 minion or connect with an existing mech – basically a better, neutral version of Blessing of Kings!
The Beryllium Nullifier is a mech only for warriors. It costs 7 mana, has stats of 3/8, is magnetic, and cannot be targeted by spells or hero powers. As an extension or base for other mechs, it creates a minion that is nearly unstoppable!
Zilliax is likely the “ultimate” upgrade for many mechs. For 5 mana, it has stats of only 3/2, but it brings a whole stack of keywords: Magnetic, Divine Shield, Taunt, Lifesteal, and Rush. Whoever is bolstered by it will likely contribute significantly to victory.
Details on the “Magnetic” mechanic
Also new are specific indications of how the new keyword “Magnetic” will function. For its operation, it is essential how you play a minion with “magnetic”! If a card with “magnetic” is played to the right of another mech, it will appear as a standalone minion on the board and will not connect with the other mech.
However, if the “magnetic” card is played to the left of the mech, it merges with the mech and adds its stats as well as card texts to the already existing minion. This gives players more flexibility and freedom of choice on how they want to utilize their magnetic cards.
What do you think of the new “Magnetic” mechanic? A cool, sensible addition? Or completely overpowered?
