The weekly challenges have just been introduced in Pokémon GO. Right from the start, there are already problems.
What are weekly challenges? The weekly challenges are a new feature that was activated on Monday, October 13, 2025 in Pokémon GO. Here, you can complete a challenge every week together with friends and receive rewards.
While the feature has just been introduced, problems arose right at the launch. Niantic has already responded to this.
Compensation and Suspension
What is the problem? If you have completed the weekly challenge, a message will appear. And there is a problem with this message. Many trainers were unable to confirm and therefore close the message.
This meant that the affected trainers could not continue playing and could not collect the rewards.
What happens to the feature now? As Niantic reports on X, the feature will be temporarily deactivated due to the current problems. Therefore, it is currently not possible to participate in the weekly challenges in the game.
What does the compensation look like? In the Helpshift of Niantic, there is a post about the issue. Here, Niantic explains that all affected trainers will be compensated with up to 6,000 Stardust and 20,000 experience points. These are exactly the amounts that would have been granted for a successful completion of the challenge.
Only the friend bonus that should also be received in the challenges is not mentioned in Niantic’s post.
When will the feature be reactivated? It is currently unknown when the weekly challenges will be corrected and reactivated. It is also unclear whether they will be activated for all players simultaneously or gradually, to detect and fix potential errors faster.
