In Destiny 2, Episode: Echoes has started its 3rd Act. With it came the new Exotic Mission “Encore” and this brought the new Exotic Auto Rifle “Resonant Chorus”. The auto rifle looks plain, but don’t be fooled. The weapon is already far too powerful.
What kind of weapon is this? This is the Exotic rifle “Resonant Chorus” which players can obtain in the new Exotic Mission “Encore” from Act 3. The rifle is unique as it requires special ammunition to fire shots. The rifle also has two firing modes:
- When you fire from the hip, Wyvern shots appear from your barrel and explode on impact.
- When you aim down sights, you spend only one round but cause a lot of damage.
Aside from that, the Void element is socketed in the rifle, which could be advantageous for many Devour builds. Our MeinMMO author Christos Tsogos had already predicted the weapon’s power before its release and that it could become far too powerful. The tests now show that he was right.
Auto Rifle Melts Bosses and Guardians
What do the tests say? Destiny expert Aztecross tested the Resonant Chorus in his recently released videos (via youtube.com) and found that the weapon is strong, even very strong.
In one test, he demonstrated the damage on normal Guardians in the Crucible. While aiming down sights, he could eliminate his test dummies with three headshots and one body shot. However, when firing from the hip, the enemies were instantly killed with one shot (5 rounds in the magazine).
It should be noted that the Wyvern salvo becomes more powerful the more rounds you have in the magazine – you should have at least 5 for maximum damage in the magazine.
That is amazing, but what is even more astonishing is its effect on bosses. In the dungeon “Pull of Greed“, Aztecross then tested the weapon on the Ogre boss. Equipped with Actium War Rig, a Well, and Divinity, he shot the boss from the hip.
The results were impressive.
With 3,393,128 damage points, he was able to nearly take down the boss in one phase. The amazing thing is that this is still an auto rifle – the weapon is so powerful that it can compete even with the best DPS weapons.
What do other experts say about the weapon? True Vanguard (via youtube.com) also commented on the weapon in his video, stating that it takes the best features of rocket-pistols and elevates them to a new level.
LUCKYY 10P looked at the weapon in PvP, confirmed that it is very strong, but pointed out a possible bug. When the weapon has only one round left, it still fires the 5-salvo from the hip for a short distance, which later corrects itself over longer shooting distances.
As for the fans, they celebrate the weapon and urge Bungie not to nerf it. Should what LUCKYY 10P described really be a bug, it will surely be addressed by Bungie sooner or later.
