The new commentator duo for EA Sports FC 25, consisting of Florian Schmidt-Sommerfeld (Schmiso) and Jan Platte, has commented on their work for the new EA FC. They are already addressing the fans almost apologetically, even though they have put their whole heart into their job.
In the joint podcast “Lauschangriff,” the two new EA FC commentators have come together and provided insight into their work for FC 25. They also report on specific game sequences that would require more emotionality in the commentary. They mention the commentary for a final in the Champions League as an example.
What makes the new commentators uncomfortable? Especially in games where everything is at stake, one must give more intensity to the voice appropriate to the occasion. Schmiso recounts almost embarrassedly: “To be honest, I let it all out. And then I screamed into the microphone.”
With some restraint, he hopes for positive feedback from the fans, as he fully engaged in the moment. So much so that after a few recordings, he had a “bright red face” and his voice was resigned.
“Yell at me” – New duo fulfills the fans’ wish
As the commentators report, fans wished for exactly such emotional reactions when the new commentators were announced. Schmiso shares that many wrote to him, asking him to “really go wild” while commenting.
Colleague Jan Platte agrees and shares similar comments on his social media channels. A fan even referenced a specific game in the past where Platte let his emotions flow freely during a last-minute goal.
You can watch the goal and Jan Platte’s live commentary here again. But beware, it might get a bit loud:
The fan wishes from Platte that he should yell at him in FC 25 just the same, because he would “just find that cool.”
However, Jan Platte also finds this style of commentary a bit uncomfortable in retrospect. If he only watches or listens to that scene without context, he would cringe himself.
Thus, you have gained a first impression of the work of the new German commentator duo. Would you enjoy if the two went wild like that for your team’s last-second goal? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments. 5 well-known players in the new FC 25 could use a bit more drive, as they are likely losing significant pace.
