Xur’s visit to Destiny 2 has become significantly more exciting in recent weeks. The alien has issues with daylight saving time and spontaneously changes his offerings – this creates a stir among the Guardians. It fluctuates between frothing rage and sudden euphoria.
What is actually Xur’s job? The strange tentacle alien has been tasked by the powerful Nine to torment and disappoint the Guardians.
Every Friday evening, thousands of Guardians around the world set out to find Xur, only to see that the exotic weapon he brings is already in their own collection.
Afterwards, as per legal requirements, Guardians colorfully insult the alien on social media. Classics include “Xuren’s son,” “Tentacle eater” or “Don Calamari.”
Because Xur is only interesting to players at the beginning of a “Destiny year” since they still lack many items. The further the year progresses, the less exciting Xur becomes. Until he is only really exciting for newcomers or returning players in the end.
Daylight saving time drives the alien crazy
That’s why Xûr is suddenly interesting: Due to the switch to daylight saving time, Xur has been somewhat buggy since last Friday. He spontaneously changes his inventory a short time after appearing, and then offers a different weapon than before:
- Last week, he first brought the “good item” Cerberus+1 but then exchanged it for the “bad item,” Risky – which most players already have through quests.
- This week, he brought “Risky” again, about which people were terribly upset, but then the offer switched to the “Prometheus Lens,” an exotic fusion rifle.
Emotional turmoil on reddit and MeinMMO
This is how the Guardians react: It has become a storm of emotions.
At MeinMMO, reactions are fairly mild:
- Here they already expect that the offer will change again: After Guardian Lime expresses disappointment about the Risky, a seasoned veteran tells him: “There will definitely be a different weapon at 7 PM.”
- Reader Antester understands Bungie: “You ask too much! The bug just occurred last week. Fixing it is way too short-term.”
- Floppy5885 is happy after the inventory change: “Really, Prometheus Lens? I’ve been trying to get that for over a year. Woe to Bungie if they change that again. A dream comes true: Like snow in summer.”
However, on reddit, at the sight of Risky, they were about to hang Xur for good.
There were several passive-aggressive comments about Xur’s inventory behavior. One posted a picture that must clearly be understood as a threat.
Meanwhile, some Guardians seem to have adjusted to the new tactic. One said: “That probably means that Xur will sell the Prometheus Lens for an hour next week.”
