Recently, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered was released – but without its popular multiplayer. According to Activision, this is also not planned. However, a leak now claims that CoD MW 2 Remastered might still bring back its beloved MP.
This would please many players: While many fans were excited about the recently released CoD: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered, some still mourn the original multiplayer of the second Modern Warfare installment.

However, a leak now claims that this could change – despite Activision’s denial. What is going on?
Where do the sources come from? The information comes from the well-known YouTuber TheGamingRevolution. He is considered a reliable source regarding CoD and has made a name for himself in the community with his numerous leaks about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2019 and the remaster of CoD: MW 2.
Nonetheless, these are unofficially confirmed information, or even statements that completely contradict the official account. So take this with a grain of caution and skepticism.
What does the leaker say about the multiplayer of CoD MW 2 Remastered? TheGamingRevolution claims that there are still chances for a separate multiplayer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered.
On Twitter, he says his source insists that the MW 2 Remastered multiplayer is still in development and being tested – even if Activision says otherwise. But more on that later. His source could not provide a specific date or timeframe for a potential release.
In the comments to his post, the leaker says it is not an April Fool’s joke. However, it could be a kind of test to gauge the community’s reactions.
He himself would find it uncool. Because to first say, “There are no plans,” when it should actually mean, “We’re not sure yet. Let’s see how the campaign does and then we will decide,” would not be the right way to go about it.
He would bet that if it actually happens in the end, Activision would say, “We saw how much the community wanted it, so we did it.”

This is the current official status regarding the multiplayer: Upon the release of CoD: Modern Warfare Remastered, Activision explained why there is no multiplayer in the remake and only the campaign was considered.
It was stated that they did not want to unnecessarily split the community further with a paid addon in multiplayer. Because buyers of CoD: MW 2 Remastered would then not be able to play with players of CoD: Modern Warfare.
Instead, they want to bring back popular classic maps like Crash or Backlot for the regular multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare 2019.

What is so special about the multiplayer of CoD MW 2? For many players and CoD veterans, Modern Warfare 2 is regarded as one of the best CoD installments.
Especially the corresponding multiplayer is praised highly and is still considered by many fans and critics as the best multiplayer of the entire “Call of Duty” series.
