The fourth main campaign of Critical Role, one of the most popular groups in Dungeons & Dragons, is starting soon. The streamers have now released a first look at the heroes of the story that fans have been eagerly waiting for.
What has Critical Role released? Critical Role, the streaming group that has been livestreaming their D&D campaigns for over 10 years, has now shown the first artworks of the characters that will be the heroes of their newest campaign on Instagram and Bluesky .
As the core group of previous campaigns has been expanded with some new additions, there are a total of 13 different characters that reflect various races and classes from Dungeons & Dragons.

What do we know about the new characters? The various players of the campaign and the main accounts of Critical Role shared the new artworks of the characters that fans will get to know in the new campaign on September 15 at 10:00 PM German time.
The following characters will be taken on by their respective players:
- Teor Pridesire, played by Travis Willingham
- Sir Julien Davinos, played by Matthew Mercer
- Thimble, played by Laura Bailey
- Thaisha Lloy, played by Aabria Iyengar
- Bolaire Thalia, played by Taliesin Jaffe
- Vaelus, played by Ashley Johnson
- Tyranny, played by Whitney Moore
- Murray Mag’nesson, played by Marisha Ray
- Occtis Tachonis, played by Alexander Ward
- Halandil Fang, played by Liam O’Brien
- Kattigan Vale, played by Robby Daymond
- Wicander Halovar, played by Sam Riegel
- Azune Nayar, played by Luis Carazo
It has already been announced that the large group of players and their characters will be divided into three different subgroups, as this is a “West Marches” style campaign. These groups will experience partially independent, partially connected story arcs that tell an overarching story.
The three groups consist of the “Soldiers,” the “Planners,” and the “Seekers.”
Which characters belong to which category and what exact classes they are is still unknown. However, fans are already eagerly speculating.
How are fans reacting to the characters? Fans are excited to finally meet the characters of the new campaign, as they are one of the most important factors that made Critical Role what it is today, alongside the adventures told and the dynamics of the friend group.
On Reddit, the artworks are also being hotly discussed. “I just noticed something interesting,” writes amamatcha (on Reddit), “The characters all seem to wear one of three main colors. Perhaps a hint at the division of the group? Hooray, time for crazy theories!”
Whether this theory holds true and whether the colors of the characters reveal something about the assignment of the Soldiers, Planners, and Seekers will remain a hypothesis until the start of the campaign on October 2, 2025.
