The developers of Black Desert have introduced the new class of the MMORPG. The first speculations from the community hit the mark.
What is known about the new class? The Wukong is set to expand the class offerings of Black Desert starting on July 2, 2025. The martial arts expert enters the battle with a Jingu staff and a pumpkin flask. His awakening weapon will be the Jade Pillar.
The main talents introduced are as follows:
- Pumpkin Flask of Tusita: Absorbs the life force of your enemies and collects it in your pumpkin flask. There, it mixes with the spring water of the immortals of Tusita – the heaven of future Buddhas – and revives the lost power of your ancestors.
- Combat Buddha: Drink the spring water of the immortals from your pumpkin flask to gain the power of your ancestors. With this power, you can achieve the status of “Combat Buddha”.
- Pierce!: Gather focused Dao in your staff and quickly shoot forward with a simple, reinforced strike. In the “Combat Buddha” state, the power of your ancestors shoots forward, extending the staff to impale even more distant enemies.
- Spike Up!: Jump into the sky and channel all your power into a focused strike downwards. In the “Combat Buddha” state, your staff extends during the strike, impaling enemies before exploding with golden flames filled with Dao energy.
- Pivot of Heaven: In the “Combat Buddha” state, extend your staff and shoot it forward with a powerful kick, spreading golden flames in all directions. If you have summoned your shadows, they will copy this attack.

The Monkey King greets you!
What is the Wukong based on? The community had already suspected after the first teaser that the legendary Monkey King from the Chinese classic “Journey to the West” could be the inspiration for the next class of Black Desert. They were right!
In the novel, the King of the Monkeys goes by the name “Sun Wukong”, and he also uses a staff, martial arts skills, and supernatural powers to combat his opponents.
The term “Wukong” was also used by another game last year to showcase its connection to “Journey to the West”. This is, of course, about Black Myth Wukong, which has become a huge hit and is currently offered with a hefty discount on Steam.
