Did you catch that despite gamescom? For Black Desert, one of the largest content updates ever has just been released. Part 2 is set to follow shortly.
What kind of update is this? “Edania – Land of Demons” was released on August 21, 2025, and ends more than 9 years after the EU release the first story chapter of Black Desert. Fans of the game will encounter familiar faces and the local demon kings on the continent of the same name.
Highlights of the innovations in Edania include:
- the continent Edania in the north of Valencia
- Continuation of the main quest line
- Access to new monster zones with increasing difficulty levels
- 5 bosses – the demon kings
- new primal class defense equipment
- Throne of Edana: Defeat the boss there and all competitors to elevate yourself as the ruler of Edana
You can find the official German patch notes with all contents and adjustments on playblackdesert.com. By the way, the second part of the Edana update is supposed to follow on September 11, 2025, granting you access to more bosses and several castles.

“You made me cry”
How is the community reacting to the finale of Act 1? Very differently, indeed. Many fans are filled with anticipation and emotion, while others wonder why the grind-heavy Black Desert should have an overarching story, which now receives its first conclusion.

In addition, many comments can be found under the overview video on YouTube, in which one wish is mentioned repeatedly: Black Desert should get more grind spots for groups.
Furthermore, some criticize that the requirements for characters to experience the new content are so high that only a few percent of players can fully experience Edania.
However, the developers have already relaxed the requirements. You no longer have to have mastered all the main quests of Atoraxion as initially announced. Instead, it is sufficient for your character to reach at least level 60 and complete the task “Beginning the Journey to the End”.
