A fan of The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) shared his art on the internet, only to find it in the MMORPG’s shop – without him knowing. Now the developers are apologizing.
In 2020, the artist Relan Daevath shared 3 images on Tumblr that he created himself. They depict various gods from the MMORPG’s lore in tattoo style: Vivec, Sotha Sil, and Almalexia.
Now, 3 years later, the artist suddenly sees his works in an announcement for the real money shop of ESO. They call it “Mercymother’s Body Art” and sell it as a skin for 1,000 crowns, about 10 €.
However, Relan Daevath had to find this out himself, as the developers at ZeniMax neither informed him nor mentioned his name. “Hello, that’s my art, but I wasn’t even mentioned?” the artist writes on Twitter. He also shares his feelings on Tumblr about the topic.
Developers Contact the Artist
Within the community, Relan Daevath receives a lot of support. He is a small artist without a large reach, but his concern has reached ZeniMax through Twitter, Tumblr, and Reddit.
In a Reddit post, the discussion garnered 6,300 upvotes and reached a lot of people. Here too, people are siding with the artist.
Yesterday, a tweet followed in which Relan Daevath said that the developers contacted him. Allegedly, they are currently looking into the matter and will get back to him with an update as soon as they can. “Okay, let’s wait,” the artist writes.
Additionally, he thanks everyone for the support he is currently receiving. “Elder Scrolls has a brilliant community,” he tweets.
How exactly the artist will be compensated is currently unclear. We only know that the developers are now aware that they have been caught. We will keep you updated on upcoming updates.
