For the MMORPG Crowfall, a major milestone of the Alpha is approaching. In the coming weeks, the first campaign is set to launch for all supporters of the game.
What are the campaigns? Campaigns are one of the main contents of Crowfall. They are time-limited PvP scenarios. As a Crow Soul, players travel from the Eternal Kingdom to a dying world to conquer it.
During the duration of such a scenario, the goal is to collect as many resources as possible and gain points. These points can be used to expand the kingdom. A campaign always ends with hunger consuming the world.
A campaign is supposed to play out like a season of Game of Thrones. The developers want to constantly create new worlds that excite players and provide variety. Therefore, there are also day/night cycles and even seasons.
A first test of the campaigns has been ongoing since 2017. Now, with patch 5.8, the first full version is set to be released, which should include all the important features for the future system.
All about the first campaign in Crowfall
When is the first campaign supposed to start? There is no exact start date for the campaign. However, the developers have published a roadmap in the official announcement that they plan to follow:
- First, the “Pre-Alpha LIVE” environment will be disabled in preparation for patch 5.8.
- Then, all players will be redirected to the TEST environment.
- After that, bugs in the TEST environment will be fixed, and performance will be optimized.
- If everything works in TEST, the patch will be released in the LIVE environment.
The first campaigns will only last a few days. The more stable the system runs, the longer players will be able to compete in the scenario.
What is included in the campaign? The first campaign is supposed to include all the important features that will also be required at the later release. These include:
- Time limitation
- Multiple continents connected by Runegates
- Outposts, towers, and fortifications that you can conquer
- Siege mechanics with trebuchets and catapults
- PvP hotspots like mines, mills, and quarries where you can gather materials
- A ranking system to track the progress of guilds and players
- Day/night cycles and seasons
- The Hunger spreading across the world.
The developers also promised some smaller adjustments such as tutorials for newcomers and new faction temples.
How can I participate in the campaign? To participate in the campaign, you must have purchased one of the Starter Packs of Crowfall. Which of the packages doesn’t matter, as all with access to Alpha and Beta can play the first campaign.
A package costs between 49.99 and 199.99 Euros. An official release of the MMORPG is only planned for 2019.
