The developers of Lord of the Rings Online had already announced in March 2025 that they would like to provide more 64-bit servers due to the enormous demand. Now there’s a specific date!
When will the new server launch? On the official Discord channel, the developers of Lord of the Rings Online announced that two more 64-bit servers will go live shortly:
- The server Grond for Europe
- The server Sting for North America
Cordovan explained on Discord: “The new EU server Grond will open on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 8:00 PM for VIP gameplay and housing purchase. Following this, Grond will be open for everyone to play and for transfers starting from 9:00 PM. Free character transfers from both 32-bit and other 64-bit EU worlds to Grond (EU) will be possible from 9:00 PM onwards.”

Why are more 64-bit servers coming? MeinMMO reported in early March that the planned transfers to the new 64-bit servers of Lord of the Rings Online were overshadowed by severe problems on March 4, 2025.
The demand was so great that the transfers could not be completed even weeks later. By mid-March, the developers stated, that they had completely underestimated the interest in the more modern servers of the MMORPG: “We have transferred over 1 million characters since the transfers opened. That is much more than expected.”
Therefore, Executive Producer Rob “Severlin” Ciccolini promised at the end of March that more 64-bit worlds would follow shortly: “We still have enough players on the 32-bit servers to justify another server.” This week they are fulfilling this promise.
