The Manga for Jujutsu Kaisen is set to conclude this year. Gege Akutami, the mangaka of Jujutsu Kaisen, has only a few months left to finish the story. To achieve this, he has devised a plan for the finale.
What is his plan? In a Q&A at the “Gege Akutami ‘Jujutsu Kaisen'” exhibition, the mangaka revealed that the current Shinjuku arc will be the final arc. This means that there will be no separate arc where we can say goodbye to the characters from Jujutsu Kaisen.
The user eagle97jjk summarized his response on X:
We might also not see how the characters fare a few years after the events of the Shinjuku arcs. Many mangaka, like Akira Toriyama or Masashi Kishimoto, have at least touched on what the lives of the protagonists look like after the tough battles in Dragon Ball Z and Naruto.
However, it could be that Gege Akutami skips that. This means Jujutsu Kaisen will conclude with the 11th arc. Thus, he could meet his planned date to finish the manga.
The backstory to Jujutsu Kaisen is available to see as a film
The story of Jujutsu Kaisen ends this year
When could the last chapter be released? The current Shinjuku arc, which will include the finale of Jujutsu Kaisen, currently has 42 chapters. There have only been two arcs so far that were longer than the Shinjuku arc:
- “Culling Game” arc (10th arc): 63 chapters
- “Shibuya Incident” arc (7th arc): 58 chapters
If the Shibuya Arc is any indication, it could take until the end of November 2024 for the finale of the manga to be released. Since the chapters do not always come out on a weekly basis, it may be tight to hold the grand finale in 2024.
Accordingly, Gege Akutami would have no time to come up with a final arc as a clean conclusion. However, it is not officially known when Jujutsu Kaisen will end.
Where can I read Jujutsu Kaisen? If you want to read the big finale for free, you can find it on Manga Plus in English. Alternatively, you can buy the manga volumes in German at your local bookstore.
For those interested in the anime, the first two seasons can currently be viewed on Crunchyroll. The first two seasons encompass seven full arcs from the manga.
Another manga that goes in the same direction as Jujutsu Kaisen is Kagurabachi. The manga started as a cult meme among anime fans but turned out to be a great story. It was recently announced that there will soon be an anime adaptation: Popular manga gets an anime, could reach the level of Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer
