Rank 5: Elendil
Elendil has only a brief appearance in The Lord of the Rings, yet he qualifies for the list. He is the father of Isildur and the founder of the Númenórean kingdoms in Middle-earth. Elendil is a great warrior and wields his sword “Narsil” against his enemies.
He leads the battle of the Last Alliance, which is seen at the beginning of “The Fellowship of the Ring.” In doing so, he confronts Sauron and his armies, which unfortunately also leads to his death. Together with Gil-galad, one of the most powerful elves, he fights Sauron personally. In the process, his sword breaks and he is defeated. As a warrior, king, and father, he has nevertheless made a model figure.
