Rank 7: Éowyn
The Lord of the Rings does not shine for its wealth of female characters who significantly contribute to the plot. Éowyn is one of the few exceptions. She is the niece of the great king Théoden of Rohan. At his court, she witnesses how Grima Wormtongue manipulates her uncle.
Éowyn stands up against the scheming Grima. She is skilled in riding and fighting with a sword, even if many would not expect that of her. Because she did not want to be content staying home while the men went off to battle against Mordor, she disguises herself and goes along. She fights in the battle of the Pelennor and even manages to defeat the powerful Witch-king of Angmar.
