Place 2: Dáin II.
Dáin II was also called “Ironfoot” and was certainly one of the most important dwarves in Middle-earth. He also belonged to the royal house of Erebor. During the war between dwarves and orcs, his father was killed by Azog, but Dáin avenged him and killed the dangerous orc.
During the Battle of the Five Armies, he assisted his cousin Thorin and played an important role in the outcome of the battle. After the victorious end, Dáin II became king under the mountain.
He was an excellent warrior on the battlefield, crushing the resistance of his opponents, but he also stood out for his great wisdom. For instance, he rejected an alliance with Sauron and sent Gimli to Rivendell to seek counsel from Elrond.
