Place 6: Thorin II.
Thorin, who also bears the name Oakenshield, was the son of Thráin. Together with his father, he fled from Erebor and lived thereafter in the Blue Mountains. After Thráin’s death, Thorin ascended to the throne.
He is famous, of course, for his mission to return to the Lonely Mountain Erebor and kill Smaug, one of the most dangerous dragons in Middle-earth. For Thorin longed to reclaim the dwarven kingdom, including the great treasure.
On this adventure, he displayed great strength, combativeness, and courage. He did not shy away from the greatest foes. Though at times he was blinded by his greed for the Arkenstone, Thorin II. was considered one of the greatest warriors and kings of the dwarves.
