Place 9: Telchar
Telchar lived in the First Age, quite a while before the events of The Lord of the Rings. Not much is known about his actual life, only that he was an outstanding smith. For some, he was even the greatest master smith that there ever was in Middle-earth. Only a few rivals could match Telchar, at most other masters like the elf Feanor.
The dwarf created many powerful weapons throughout his life, including the sword Narsil, which was later wielded by one of the most powerful men, Elendil. After the weapon was broken in the Battle of the Last Alliance, Isildur used it to cut the One Ring from Sauron’s hand. From the pieces of Narsil, Andúril was later forged, which then came into the possession of Aragorn. Telchar may not have been a great warrior, but his influence on Middle-earth was immense.
