In the movies of The Lord of the Rings, we only see a few dwarves, although there were some quite legendary representatives of this people in Middle-earth. But who are the strongest?
How was the ranking created? Gimli is certainly the most famous dwarf from The Lord of the Rings, but there are many others besides him, some of whom are even more powerful. For this list, we looked at dwarves that appear in “The Lord of the Rings”, “The Hobbit” or other works by J.R.R. Tolkien. For example, in “The Silmarillion”, which was published only after the author’s death.
We compare the dwarves in their pure strength, their power, but also their influence on the history of Middle-earth. If your personal ranking looks different, feel free to let us know in the comments.
Place 10: Thrór I.
Thrór I. was the grandfather of Thorin Oakenshield, known to most from “The Hobbit”. He was king under the mountain for many years and distinguished himself through great leadership qualities. He was also one of the bearers of the Rings.
After his father and brother were killed by dragons, Thrór led his people to the Lonely Mountain. There he created a mighty kingdom.
Unfortunately, this attracted the dragon Smaug, who claimed the kingdom and the treasure located there. He drove the dwarves away, who once again fled under Thrór’s leadership. After a detour into Mirkwood, the king ended up in Moria, where he was killed by the orc Azog. This led to the war between dwarves and orcs.
