Rank 7: Aion 2
Setting: Fantasy | Developer: NCSoft | Platform: PC, Mobile | Status: Western release planned for 2026, release in Korea already in 2025
The successor to Aion 2 also relies on Unreal Engine 5 and a stronger focus on us western players. Although the faction war between the Asmodians and Elyos will continue, it will take place in an outsourced, cross-server area.
On your own server, however, you will only encounter followers of your own faction to pursue quests, events, dungeons, and raids either alone or together. The game world is said to be much larger than the predecessor.
You’ll explore the game world mostly by flying, with the typical Aion wings. There should be fewer restrictions for flying than in the first Aion. Alternatively, you can also tame animals in the world and then use them as mounts.
According to tests in June 2025, Aion 2 relies on a mix of action/tab-targeting in combat, where skills will hit the targeted enemy reliably, but you must still actively act to evade enemy attacks.
Despite the mobile version, there will be no autoplay, as the focus appears to be clearly on the PC. Nevertheless, the developers already admit that there will be traces of Pay2Win in the shop.
